We recently discovered Basko. A beautiful restaurant in Business Bay by Anthony Zaatar- menu by @chefyoussefakiki and desserts by @cedricgrolet. Everything about this place was magical. The decor was luscious yet comfortable, luxurious but unpretentious with a live DJ and music I would have danced to- except I was too excited to try the menu. What I loved about the food is that it is curated in a very different way from many of the Dubai food scene. Each dish had a creative twist, amazing bold flavors and was prepared to perfection. We were very happy with our selection, enough for 4 hungry…

Continue ReadingA good vinaigrette, an essential dressing in everyone’s fridge and my personal favorite dressing! I could almost drink it. All you need is a few ingredients and a blender. It lasts well for a week in the fridge and it’s perfect with greens such as lettuce or steamed greens beans or broccoli. The secret is to always have 1-3 ratio of vinegar to olive oil.

Continue ReadingIn this lazy cake recipe, I tweaked an older one (by my friend @joellerached) and I cannot tell you how amazing it turned out!! I used whatever biscuits I could find at home, starting with digestives (a must in my opinion) and added some butter biscuits and pretzels. The saltiness of the pretzels was such a nice contrast to the sweetness of the chocolate. Also I added some malt powder (my friend @sandyskitchen’s genius idea!!) and it took this lazy cake to a different dimension. What i love about this type of desserts is that you can forget it in the freezer…
