Salmon puff pastry tart. I have to say, i saw this tart a while ago on insta, and it stuck with me. When i finally managed to make it, I prepared it in 30min just before getting my kids from school. It’s that easy and super delicious. We all loved it at home! Serve with wedges of lemon and capers, if you like.

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of ready rolled puff pastry (about 215g- use all butter if possible)
  • 200 g smoked salmon, best quality
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp moutarde à l’ancienne
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano, or dried thyme
  • Egg wash : 1 egg yolk + a dash of cream or milk whisked together, to glaze the edges
  • 1 tbsp of dill leaves
  • Lemon to serve

Method

  • 1)

    Preheat the oven to 200C

  • 2)

Unroll the dough and place it on a baking tray.

  • 3)

Gently score the dough using a sharp knife, creating an edge of about 2-3cm.

  • 4)

Dont cut all the way through.

  • 5)

Brush the egg wash on the edges then sprinkle with the dried herbs.

  • 6)

In the central part of the dough, spread the 2 mustards.

  • 7)

Bake in the preheated oven for 20min, until puffed and golden.

  • 8)

Once cool enough to handle, press the middle part, separating it gently from the edges.

  • 9)

    Press to compact it.

  • 10)

Spread the cream cheese on top.

  • 11)

To prepare your salmon: using a large knife, as is, on the tray and without remove the plastic film that separates the layers, cut into strips.

  • 12)

Using kitchen tweezers or your hand (use gloves), place the salmon layers haphazardly and gently on the central part if the tart.

  • 13)

    Decorate with the dill.

  • 14)

Serve with lemon to squeeze and capers if you wish.
