A super easy and delicious side dish that will make you love Brussels sprouts.

Ingredients

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts, washed and halved
  • 200 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Handful of fresh zaatar leaves
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Dried parsley and fresh thyme or oregano (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Method

  • 1)

Boil Brussels sprouts in a large pot of salted boiling water for 5 to 6 minutes.

  • 2)

Drain and quickly rinse with cold water to stop cooking; then dry them.

  • 3)

In a large bowl, season the cooked Brussels sprouts with onion, garlic and parsley powder, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper.

  • 4)

Melt butter and mix it with olive oil; line a large oven-proof dish with nonstick baking paper.

  • 5)

Drizzle the olive oil and butter mixture in the dish; top with grated Parmesan.

  • 6)

Place Brussels sprouts cut side down on top of Parmesan.

  • 7)

Lightly brush Brussels sprouts with the remaining olive oil.

  • 8)

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C until golden and bubbly.

  • 9)

Optional: Use the broiler for the last few minutes for an extra crisp.

  • 10)

Top with more grated Parmesan and fresh zaatar before serving as a delightful side dish.
