Honey Baklawa Roll with Al Shifa Black Forest Honey.
I love recreating favorite recipes to fit our lifestyle. Instead of using refined sugar, i made baklawa roll using Al Shifa Black Forest honey, which has a smooth, caramel-like taste and many health benefits. Founded in 1983 in Saudi Arabia, Al Shifa is among the world’s top five honey brands

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of rectangular puff pastry
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tbsp Black Forest honey from Al Shifa
  • ½ cup crushed pistachios (reserve a pinch to decorate)
  • 1 egg, whisked (for egg wash)
  • More honey to drizzle
  • Dried baby roses, to decorate

Method

  • 1)

In a bowl, mix the softened butter with the Black Forest honey until smooth and well combined.

  • 2)

Spread the honey-butter mixture evenly over one sheet of puff pastry.

  • 3)

Sprinkle with crushed pistachios, reserving a pinch for decoration.

  • 4)

Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and press lightly to seal.

  • 5)

Cut the layered pastry into strips.

  • 6)

Twist each strip and roll it into a snail shape. Place them on a baking tray lined with nonstick baking paper.

  • 7)

Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  • 8)

Drizzle with more honey and sprinkle with the reserved pistachios.

  • 9)

Decorate with dried baby roses and serve warm or at room temperature.
