A continuation of Najla’s kindness from me to you. A super easy, crunchy pastry dessert that is made without any refined sugars. I used the date and chestnut caramel as a filling. And the beauty of it is that it can be prepared ahead of time. Preheat lightly before serving
Ingredients
- 2 sheets of rectangular puff pastry
- Chestnut and date caramel (recipe in an older reel)
- 1 egg, beaten with a touch of cream (for egg wash)
- Icing sugar and chopped nuts

Method
- 1)
Spread chestnut and date caramel over one sheet of puff pastry. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- 2)
Place the second sheet on top, press lightly and cut it into strips.
- 3)
Twist each strip and roll into a snail shape placed on a baking tray lined with nonstick baking paper.
- 4)
Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C until golden (20–25 minutes).
- 5)
Sprinkle with icing sugar and chopped nuts. Serve warm or at room temperature.
