Caramelized Shallots and Burrata Tarte Tatin

An easy yet super impressive entertaining dish. Ingredients are super simple, make sure to take your time caramelizing the shallots. Make ahead and reheat then top with Burrata and salad or pop in the oven just 30min before serving! Will you try it?

An easy yet super impressive entertaining dish. Ingredients are super simple, make sure to take your time caramelizing the shallots. Make ahead and reheat then top with Burrata and salad or pop in the oven just 30min before serving! Will you try it?

Ingredients

For 8 people

  • 750g shallots, halved
  • 1/4 cup balsamic cream
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 puff pastry (gluten-free if you like)
  • 1 burrata Some salad leaves
  • Pepper and salt
  • Fresh thyme
  • Lemon zest Sumac

Method

  • 1)

    Peel and halve the shallots.

     

  • 2)

    In an oven-safe pan (or a tarte tatin dish), add olive oil, balsamic cream, sugar, then the shallots, with the rounded side down. Add salt, pepper, thyme, and sumac.

  • 3)

    Keep drizzling with the sauce and cook until the shallots are tender. Cover if needed. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

  • 4)

    Cover with puff pastry.

  • 5)

    Tuck the edges inside and poke the pastry with a fork.

     

     

  • 6)

    Bake for 20-30 minutes at 180°C until golden and puffed.

  • 7)

    Flip onto a serving plate and place the burrata, salad, a little pepper and thyme, and lemon zest on top. Enjoy while warm!
