This delicious date twist is made using a 2-ingredients dough and date caramel. And the secret is that if we whip the date caramel with more cream, we get a lush, creamy, frosting!
Ingredients
- 350g self-raising flour + 1/4 tsp baking powder or 350g plain flour + 4 tsp of baking powder)
- 220g yogurt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup pitted dates, soft type
- 1/4 cup whipped cream
- 1/4 cup whipping cream

Method
- 1)
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 2)
In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour, yogurt, and cinnamon. Mix until a smooth, bouncy dough forms.
- 3)
Shape the dough into a rectangle about 15 x 30 cm in size.
- 4)
In a blender or food processor, blend the pitted dates and whipped cream until smooth to make the date caramel.
- 5)
Spread the date caramel evenly over the dough rectangle.
- 6)
Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log.
- 7)
Using a serrated knife, cut the log in half lengthwise.
- 8)
Twist the two halves together and transfer to a lined baking sheet.
- 9)
Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
- 10)
While the date twist is baking, prepare the frosting. In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of the date caramel with 1/4 cup whipping cream. Beat until thick and fluffy.
- 11)
Once the date twist is done baking, let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- 12)
Spread the extra thick date frosting on top of the date twist and serve warm. Enjoy!
