Hi guys! This is how i caramelize my onions but I usually do them outside the house (balcony, garden, dirty kitchen..) because it requires to cook for a lonnng time and your home will end up smelling of onions. If you are having guests, prepare a day in advance!

Hi guys! This is how i caramelize my onions but I usually do them outside the house (balcony, garden, dirty kitchen..) because it requires to cook for a lonnng time and your home will end up smelling of onions. If you are having guests, prepare a day in advance!
Ingredients
- 500 grs red onions, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/4-1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/4-1/3 cup water
- big pinch of dried oregano or dried zaatar
Method
- 1)
Place the onions, dried herbs and the olive oil in a wok or large frying pan.
- 2)
Gently fry them on low-medium heat, while continuously stirring and mixing the onions.
- 3)
Add water to avoid burning the onions, and keep stirring until they are lightly colored, translucent and fragrant.
- 4)
Be patient and don’t burn them.
- 5)
You will need about 30min as that will allow the onions to naturally caramelize.
- 6)
Red onions will get darker than white onions.
- 7)
Take them of the heat and keep aside.
- 8)
This step can be prepared a day in advance.
