The versatility of European butter makes it the easiest way to add flavors to your dishes. I made this flavored butter in the colors of the UAE flag to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this great nation. Although it looks very impressive, it is actually very easy to make as French butter has a creaminess and a natural purity that allows flavors to shine through.

Ingredients
- 400 grs of French butter
- 2 tbsp ready made pesto sauce
- 2 tbsp ready made sun-dried tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Chili oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt
- 1 tsp activated charcoal powder

Method
- 1)
Divide the butter into 4 medium bowls.
- 2)
Let it soften and come to room temperature.
- 3)
Using a rubber spatula, mix the pesto into 1 bowl.
- 4)
Mix the tomato paste, paprika powder and a few drops of chili into the 2nd bowl.
- 5)
Mix the garlic powder and salt into the 3rd bowl.
- 6)
Finally, mix the charcoal powder into the last bowl. You might need to warm the butter a little bit for this layer as the charcoal emulsifies better in softer butter.
- 7)
I used a square molds to shape the butters.
- 8)
Freeze them for a couple of hours before assembling.
- 9)
I used toothpicks to hold them in place.
- 10)
You can serve them in small bowls individually but they taste heavenly used together.
- 11)
Feel free to spread them over toasted bread, steamed veggies or as a simple way to enhance pasta dishes and steaks.
