I have been craving the viral apple fritters I have been seeing all over social media but i didn’t have apples not flour- only pears and buckwheat flour! And since I’m on a quest of only using ingredients that i already have, i tried them this way. I loved them! Now buckwheat isn’t the same as plain flour! I would suggest you start with regular flour. Also make sure you use a non stick pan!

I have been seeing all over social media but i didn’t have apples not flour- only pears and buckwheat flour!

Ingredients

  • 4 pears, sliced and centers removed for the batter
  • 1 cup flour (i used buckwheat)
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional- add more milk if you do)
  • coconut oil to fry

Method

  • 1)

    In a large bowl, whisk the dry ingredients before adding the milk and whisking until smooth.

  • 2)

    Using 2 forks, dip each pear slice into the batter then tap off the excess.

  • 3)

    Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  • 4)

    When all the pear slices are covered in batter, fry for about 2 minutes on each side or until crispy.

  • 5)

    Enjoy with any nut butter of your choice.
