Crunchy phyllo roses pudding, a quick and delicious dessert that looks so impressive but is very easy to create. Use whatever nuts you have on hand. Serve with more nuts and honey or sugar syrup. You can also serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Crunchy phyllo roses pudding, a quick and delicious dessert that looks so impressive but is very easy to create. Use whatever nuts you have on hand. Serve with more nuts and honey or sugar syrup. You can also serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients

  • Phyllo pastry sheets
  • 150g butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp orange blossom
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup pistachio, chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • Icing sugar
  • dried rose petals, to decorate
  • honey or sugar syrup, to serve

Method

  • 1)

    Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  • 2)

    Butter an 8 X 11inch baking dish..

  • 3)

    Lay out 2 phyllo pastry sheets and brush each layer generously with melted butter.

  • 4)

    Place two sheets on top of each other and sprinkle a mixture of icing sugar and chopped nuts evenly over the sheets.

  • 5)

    Roll into a tight spiral to form a rose shape, cut in half and place them in the prepared baking dish, cut side down.

  • 6)

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla, milk, cream, orange blossom, and rose water until well combined.

  • 7)

    Pour the egg mixture evenly over the pastry roses in the baking dish.

  • 8)

    Sprinkle some chopped pistachios over the top.

  • 9)

    Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 min or until the pudding is golden brown but still jiggly.

  • 10)

    Sprinkle with nuts and decorate with dried rose petals and serve with honey or sugar syrup
