14 Things to do in Georgia

October 6, 2026pub

14 things to do in Georgia, in under a week! Save this reel for your next trip.
I loved the fact that in under 4 hours from the UAE, same time zone, you can feel a total change of scenery, thanks to the nature, architecture, and weather of Georgia.

Tbilisi feels like a city made for wandering. Old wooden balconies, hidden courtyards, beautiful churches and unexpected Soviet and contemporary architecture all sit side by side, creating an interesting sense of layers and contrasts. I love cities that have a little imperfection and a strong personality, and Tbilisi has both. Incredible food, impressive hotels and the tiny cafés.

Thank you @georgiatravel for a beautiful, eye opening experience.

1- Cave Town Uplistsikhe, the lord’s fortress, is an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia
Kvakhvreli.
According to archaeologists, it is one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia.
The earliest traces of human presence in Uplistsikhe date back to the end of the 2nd millennium BC.

2- Dodonut: the raspberry and cream is super popular. After trying it, I completely understood why. Batumi & Tiblisi

3- Gemo fest: an authentic annual gastronomic festival in Georgia that showcases traditional, rare, and lesser-known regional dishes. Locations and dates vary.

4- Ferris wheel, Batumi Boulevard.
A historic 7-kilometer seaside park featuring walking paths, cafes, and dancing fountains on the Black Sea.

5- Ali & Nino, Batumi Boulevard
The kinetic sculpture is by artist Tamara Kvesitadze. It represents eternal love and mutual understanding across cultures and religions. it was inspired by the 1937 novel Ali and Nino, about a muslim Azerbaijani boy and a Christian Georgian girl who fall in love during WW1. Their love story is ultimately doomed.

6- Eat freshly baked breads and Adjaruli Khachapuri.
The most famous, boat-shaped version from the Adjara region. It is filled with cheese and topped with a raw egg yolk and butter. We mix the egg and butter directly into the cheese, then tear off pieces of the crust to dip into it.

7- Visit Lasha’s Ethno house, Martvili.
In travel, design, and architecture, “Ethno-style” refers to a design movement that celebrates and preserves the traditional culture, architecture, and lifestyle of a specific region or ethnic group.
Authentic Megrelian traditional wooden oda houses, homemade cooking, and an immersion into local culture.

8- Make and eat Elarji at Lasha’s Ethno house, Martvili
Elarji is one of the most famous, mesmerizing masterpieces of Megrelian cuisine. It is a hot, thick porridge made by kneading an immense amount of fresh, elastic Sulguni cheese into slow-cooked white cornmeal.

9- Watch local dances.
Georgian dances are a powerful and graceful traditional art form that blend fiery male athleticism with the quiet elegance of women.
Men perform high jumps, fast spins, and knee-tricks, while women glide.

10- Walk the streets, discover the hidden cafés, eat the local food. Golden light catching the gilded rooftops of churches and old buildings, faded Soviet remnants, lush green corners and a young, restless energy. Eat your way through Khinkali, their juicy soup dumplings, smoky eggplant, walnuts, and little pastries filled with cheese (Khachapuri) or beans (Lobiani).

11- Visit the Botanical Garden + zip line.
Batumi’s Botanical Garden has many worlds within it. Thanks to its unique microclimate, plants from very different regions thrive side by side. Finish with a zip line ride through the treetops over the Black Sea.

12- Learn how to make Khachapuri, Khinkali and Churchkhela. Learn how to shape khachapuri, fold delicate khinkali dumplings, and make churchkhela, the traditional walnut-and-grape sweet. Techniques and stories are passed down through generations.

13- Visit the Martvili Canyons, with their magical river and waterfalls- surrounded by a mysterious forest.

14- Make friends, make memories.
